Updated 19th July

Another milestone date in our escape from the Pandemic.  We are operating almost normally now and hope to be able to provide our full training programme for the rest of the season.  Rest assured, however, that we will continue to use all of the practices that have kept us ‘covid free’ so far.   If you have been waiting to re-book a postponed course or event please contact us in the very near future to make a plan.

Updated 23rd February

We have a plan!  Bad news is that we have to postpone all of our planned March and early April practical courses, but the good news is that we should be back in business from the 12th April.  We will operate initially under the restricted ‘Covid’ regime set last summer but from 17th May we hope to operate relatively normally.  We are in the process of contacting all of our clients affected by this latest round of postponements and hope to have everybody back ‘on programme’ over the next week or so. Let’s hope that the governments strategy for an exit from lockdown goes to plan and that the weather proves to be as good as last year.

Updated 13th January

So we are back in lockdown. All of the Day Skipper Classroom based evening sessions planned to start in January have now been transferred to our Zoom platform and are underway.  All of our Practical Courses planned for January and February have been postponed and our clients have been offered alternative dates in March and April. March dates are almost filled now but we will take fresh bookings for the period after 1st April.  Let’s hope that the pandemic is under control by then so that we can get back to doing what we love, teaching sailing.

Updated 1st December

In Dorset we will emerge from the second lockdown into a Tier Two situation. Rules for Tier Two prevent us from mixing with anybody who is not part of our own household ‘down below’ and so we have to postpone all of the Non – Vocational courses that we had planned for December.  Let’s hope that we will move to a Tier One situation soon so that we can start those courses again in the New Year.

Updated 24th June

Good news we think. The latest lifting of restrictions in England will enable us to resume RYA Cruising courses starting on the 6th July. As you can imagine we have a substantial backlog of postponed bookings to clear while keeping the three remaining key restrictions in mind. They are:

1. Social distancing of one metre plus.
2. Maximum of six persons from different households to meet in the open air.
3. Maximum of two household groups to mix indoors including overnight stays.

In order to comply with the above and run with mixed crews most courses will involve day sailing to and from Poole Quay Boat Haven. That will enable locally based clients and our instructors to return home each evening leaving the boats free for overnight stays for clients travelling longer distances to attend. Those who have booked as single households on a whole boat basis will of course be able to cruise as normal.

We thank you for your continued cooperation.
Cheers Rob

Updated 1st May

We are now running Day Skipper Theory Courses in our virtual ‘Zoom’ classroom.  These are not ‘on-line’ courses but full, face to face, courses using all of the standard RYA materials, but to a schedule and timescale that suits you. And you don’t have to leave home. We are charging £350 per person and need a couple of weeks lead time to set the course up and post out materials.  For more details email Rob.
